Family Separations: Faith Leaders Speak Out...

Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Ecumenical Faith Leader Statement on Family Separations

ONE Church St Luke Chapel Olney Philadelphia Concurs

#ONEChurch, St. Luke Chapel, Olney, Philadelphia finds the practice of child and family separations being undertaken by the current White House administration and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and Customs and Border Patrol a horrific, and very unsettling practice. This barbaric treatment of children of would-be Immigrants to the United States is nothing less than the Nazi practice of sending Jews-often separate from their children to  "The Gates of Hell" - "Death Camps". Or, the Japanese Internment camps of 1942-1945 (Executive Order 9066 FDR).

Currently, many, many immigrant (ie: "Mexican") children are being held (Detained) in so-called 'shelters'... little more than a cot and a blanket on the floor of a makeshift warehouse, inside chain-link fenced enclosures--akin to a dog kennel!

This harsh, creul, inhumane treatment of other human beings, made in the Image of God, (Imago Dei) is wholly unacceptable and MUST come to an end. The Church, Holy, Catholic, Universal, United and Ecumenical MUST be the one to DEMAND that the practice stop! This message must be carried to Washington DC, to the Halls of the Senate and US Congress, and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue by those purported "Evangelicals" that call themselves 'advising' this White House!

And, it's imperative and incumbent upon all of us Christians, Members of The Church, God's Family, to bring attention to the maltreatment of these, Our Children, Our Kin, Our Brothers and Sisters of God and regardless of their faith, or religion or etnicity or national origin.

We can do no less. We are Commanded to Love Our Neighbor, and to Welcome The Stranger. What Would Jesus Do? What WILL YOU DO? More Here...
